Ingredients

  • 4 slices of thick bread like brioche or challah
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter for cooking
  • Maple syrup for serving
  • Powdered sugar for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Egg Mixture: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
  • Soak the Bread: Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are coated. Let the excess mixture drip off.
  • Cook the Toast: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Once melted, add two slices of soaked bread to the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Repeat with the remaining butter and bread slices.
  • Serve: Plate the French toast and serve warm, topped with maple syrup and a sprinkle of powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, consider using half-and-half instead of milk.
  • Feel free to add toppings like fresh fruit, whipped cream, or nut butter for added flavor.
